Vacation at Bali, September 2008 – Part 1

Finally I got some time for a vacation after months of crazy workload. I decided to spend some time in Bali since Martha has never been there before. I took a direct flight with Lion Air from Changi Airport, Singapore to Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar, Bali. I was lucky because there was a promotion fare that cost me only around 200 SGD for two-way flight.

Arrival at Bali

I arrived at Bali on Saturday, September 6, 2008 sometime in the morning. While Martha, who took AirAsia fromSoekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta arrived about half an hour later. My mom and Elizabeth, my sister, were already there at the Ngurah Rai Airport waiting for our arrival.

It was my first time at the airport. For an international airport, it’s surprisingly small. But the service was quite good and the staffs were very friendly. It had nice local decorations too.

My auntie, generously, lent a car with the driver to take us on our tour. After a quick breakfast, we went towards our first destination.
Me and Martha, at Bedugul Lake, Bali

Bedugul Lake

Located on the highland, this lake is very famous in Bali. The air was cool and fresh. The scenery was beautiful. But the place was not so crowded when we were there. Maybe because it was not a high season.

We took a trip on a speedboat to go around the lake. Then we took some time to visit the nearby market. After that we continued to our next destination.

Tanah Lot

This particular spot is unique because there is a temple in the middle of the sea. Well not so far from the beach, but it will be surrounded by water, especially when there is a high tide.

When we came, fortunately it was the praying day so we could witness some of the activity going on. We took a lot of pictures and visited the market as well.

Seafood at Jimbaran Beach

Grace (only her back :p), Martha, Elizabeth, and Mom, dining at Jimbaran, BaliIt was late already, so we decided to go for dinner. My auntie already arranged for a dinner at Jimbaran beach. This place is very famous of the great seafood meals. A lot of restaurants were there and when we came the place, as usual, were very crowded. We had to wait for a while to get seated. Anyway, we enjoyed the dinner very much.

I think that’s all for now, pretty tired. I’ll continue later. Meanwhile, you can check some of the pictures.
