Farewell Eva

August 13th, 2004. Published under Daily Journal, Games. No Comments.

I could hardly open my eyes this morning. I definitely lacked sleeping lately. I couldn’t even sleep regularly. Gosh, I remembered that I would go to Jember this afternoon so I must get up and worked from the first shift.

Today is tha last working day for Eva Soeryono, a co-worker. Vebby delightedly switched her computer with Eva’s. Maybe she’s the happiest person related to Eva’s departure. We also set up a small farewell party at about 16.00. After her short speech, some of us were given the chance to say something to her. It could be an advice, a message, or anything. Freddy, Lisa H., Herlina, Yendy told us how they felt about her. So predictable, they mostly said the good part only.

To keep everything in balance, I used my chance to show the bad part. I said about how annoying her mak-lampir-style-laughter, about how I hated her pulling my shirts, about how she annoyingly forces others to do things for her. I didn’t know how she felt when she heard me saying those things. The truth was I didn’t wanna know. Some said that I was too cruel. The hell with that. For me, saying the truth although it hurts is way much better than saying the pleasant but fake things. I was asked to tell what I felt and I did so. I didn’t want to talk the bad things only behind her back but right at her face. Believe me or not, I didn’t mean to offense or hurt her. I didn’t say the bad things because I hated her, but I just wanted her to know her weaknesses and do something about them. It didn’t also mean that I’m the all-perfect man that has the right to judge her whatsoever. I know that my self as well as others have our own weaknesses. It’s okay for me though, to have weaknesses. But it’s not okay if they start to annoy or disturb others. In this case, you must realize it or somebody must make you realize.

Well, this is me. It’s easy for me to spot others’ faults but mine. And I know that it is pretty annoying to others tehehe. Meanwhile, Vebby had a present for her. An underwear, or a bikini, I didn’t see it clearly. But Eva felt so embarrassed when little Shierly forced her to put it on.

I had reserved a seat from Jaya Utama to travel to Jember this afternoon but my auntie sent me a message that Harlin Travel–my other auntie’s transport company–was going to send a car to Jember at about 20.00. Then she asked me if I would go with Harlin instead. It was a good news, it meant saving 40 thousands rupiahs. Soon I called Jaya Utama to cancel my reservation. The car picked me up when I was eating. I ate fast so the driver didn’t wait too long.

When I just got in, my phone rang. It’s Jonathan asking about an RO stuff. We stopped at the office to pick up the real driver. The one who picked me up is actually not a driver but an office boy. Only the driver and me, we went to Jember right away. I sat on the front chair to accompany the driver. We had a little chat until we arrived at the toll gate. He stopped the car and told me that he wanted to wait the other car. It’s okay for me. Suddenly my phone rang for the second time. It’s him again asking the same RO stuff again. Haha, he started to get addicted to RO, too. Damn it, it had been more than an hour and the car we were waiting still didn’t show up. I lost my patience but could do nothing. I didn’t pay the ticket. So I moved to the back seat and tried to sleep. Some times later the driver returned and told me that the other car had not shown up yet so he decided to leave. Finally…

Shoot!!! We stopped again at a mechanic. The driver told me that he needed to repair a broken tire. I didn’t give a damn and continued sleeping. We finally arrived at my house at about 2.00AM. Can you believe it, it took us 6 hours from Surabaya to Jember. Forget it, we arrived safely anyway. I gave the driver a tip and went inside my house. My mom opened the door. She’d been waiting for me all the night. My beloved mom.

Let’s Party

August 11th, 2004. Published under Daily Journal. No Comments.

This is really the week of parties. Today, Pratu, my colleague, a true anime-lover, celebrated her birthday. As usual, the whole office made a small party for the birthday girl, with cakes and a candle. Jonathan, our photographer, aggressively took the pictures of everyone with his beloved digicam.

Pratu’s birthday was only just a beginning, in terms of food I mean :p. At about 4.30 PM we got another party. Lisa Gunawan and Lisa Handayani, Shirley W., Yendy, and Yenny were celebrating their graduations. While Vebby opened the party, Marisa was the one who prayed for us. This was the funny part. Marisa prayed like she never did it before, and she admitted it. We couldn’t even wait until the prayer was finished and we started laughing out loud. In fact, we knew that we should appreciate the prayer but we really couldn’t help it.

Anyway, I don’t think that we really mind it, what mattered most is the food :D. They provided a lot of food for all of us to eat. Let’s see, fried chickens, barbecued fishes, green veggies, fried mayonnaise-covered prawns, and cocktails. They were quite delicious. I heard they bought them from the Primarasa restaurant. Maybe I could add it as a recommended one.

During the party, Jon kept tooking pictures. His victims were Eva Soeryono, because she’s gonna leaving soon, and Vebby. Vebby made some funny poses, like kicking Bambang and acting like the dead. So funny, she could be a good model you know, for The House of The Dead.

Party and Food

A phone call from Yosep woke me up at 10.10 AM this morning. He told me that there would be a badminton practice. S***, I could not found my socks so I played without shoes. No problem for the first few games. But later my feet felt so d*** aching. I wished my feet skin was a lot thicker. We started the game at about 11.30 AM and finished three hours later. Some of my friends came home right away. But as usual, Yosep, Sudarwan (a friend of mine who has a giant body), and me would never go home without playing a few card games first. However, I couldn’t stay for too long because there was a wedding party I needed to attend.

Friend of the day: Jonathan

I always love parties, especially wedding parties because they mean a lot… of food. Today, I attended a wedding party with Jonathan. It’s not the party of my friend nor the friend of Jonathan. It’s my friend Jonathan’s friend’s friend’s party. Multiply used this ridiculous syntax to describe your friendship network. Yeah they didn’t want to use Friendster’s simpler way even though they had copied many features of Friendster. Multiply did offer many things on their site including Friendster-style friendship network, personal homepage, blogs, picture albums, as well as private and public messaging. To get more members, they even syndicated Friendster by sending their invitations to all your friends at Friendster automatically. If I were the Friendster’s Webmaster, I would definitely block them and maybe sue them for privacy and copyright violation. Well, to me it’s not a fair competition.

Hey what am I talking about. I didn’t finish the party part yet. Okay let’s go back to it. The party was held at the Forum restaurant. It located in Margorejo. Although it has two floors, it’s not a big restaurant and the reputation ain’t that good either. The party took place on the second floor. I didn’t count but I thought there were less than 50 tables.

We arrived at about 6.30 PM so there were still many empty seats. The invitation mentioned 6 PM, but you know, here this kind of occasion is always at last 1 hour late. A “pager-ayu” escorted us to an empty table. The place was not crowded yet, so Jonathan and me started to talk about the “pager-ayu” girls. Some of them are pretty but very skinny. We talked about their thin arms, their backless suit. Which one was the prettier and other boys-talk. Jon even imagined what would they look like when they’re pregnant. Can you belive it? Just before the bride and the groom arrived at about 7.30pm, our table was seated by a single man, a couple of husband and wife, and a family (two adults, three children, and a nanny). There was only one empty seat left and nobody ever sat on it because most didn’t came alone. What a lucky day, I didn’t see many people with high appetite at the table so I would get a handsome share :D. No hard competitors hehe.

After the marrying couple arrived, a local dance group performed an opening dance. Only one of the five that was really attractive to me. She’s quite pretty although her skin was rather dark. Well, it didn’t really matter. The first meal served was what mattered. It’s a soup. Not quite an appetizer however. Can’t wait for the main course: chickens. They looked so tasty that I snatched some without even offering the older ones :p. Nothing left on the plate but the bones. The next menu was fried noodle. Not bad. Nothing left either.

While we’re eating the dance group performed twice with Jill Xu’s song, I Wanna Be With You and Smile DK’s Butterfly. The local band also performed with the vocals of a female singer and a male tenor singer who had a terrific voice. In the mean time, Jon was busy with his digicam trying to take a picture of the couple because his friend asked him to send the pictures. At first he took the picture from our seats. Since the distance was so far that the pictures didn’t look good, I encouraged him to get closer to take the pictures. While the couple was on stage with the beautiful dancer for the last time, he took the chance to shoot. The good news was that he got the couple’s shots. The bad news was that he couldn’t get a clear picture of the beautiful dancer.

Well, maybe the next menu, “Gurami”, could make him happier. He ate quite a lot. I didn’t know exactly what was the next menu. It looked like “Tamie” with some boiled eggs of “puyuh” and pasta. It didn’t taste good for me, so I only ate the eggs. Jon too. The last menu in the main course is the ordinary fried rice. It wasn’t good either so I only took a bowl. We skipped the dessert. Can you believe it, “Es Cendol” in a wedding party?

Wow! It was already 9 PM so we decided to leave sooner because we parked our motor cycles at Plasa Marina and we didn’t know exactly on what time the parking lot would be closed. Better safe than sorry. We took the short walk, stopped by the ATM because I needed to transfer some fund, and went home. Woa, I was full. Although the taste didn’t extremely good, but for the great price, did I mention it was free, it really didn’t matter :D.
