Personalities Exposed
August 23rd, 2004. Published under Daily Journal. No Comments.
We had two sessions of knowledge sharing today. The first was about discovering our personalities by Dinny. It took place in the library after the lunch. People tend to like this kind of sharing than the technical ones. So without doubt, most of us attended the session. I think there were more at least twenty people. Unfortunately the library room is so small we weren’t comfortable.
The session did well enough though. Dinny introduced the popular four kinds of temperaments (I’d rather call them personalities though): sanguine, choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic. For your information, we had been asked to do a 40-questions test earlier. The answers were summarized based on certain formula to discover our personality types. The result showed a well balanced groups. We were almost evenly divided into four groups of the personalities. Of course noone had the pure personality types. All were hybrids but a personality generally dominated the others.
I had the purest personality type by the way. From the 40 questions, 32 proved that I was extremely choleric. 5 showed my sanguine side while only 3 told that I was melancholic. From the session, I knew that the choleric is extrovert, short-tempered, a born-leader, a doer, and perfectionist. Yeah it’s pretty much like me, I couldn’t deny it. Dinny also suggested that the cholerics should find the phlegmatics as their soulmates. It sounds sensible but I prefer the melancholic. I love the intellectuals.
The next session was Anton’s guide to creating a game with Macromedia Flash and ActionScript. Our knowledge sharings will be evaluated at the end of the year. The best will get a prize. Okay the prize is not the main concern here but I felt it was not fair enough for Anton since he was the newest employee yet he got his turn before the formers. Personally I don’t think his performance satisfying today. He couldn’t explain well and clearly to us. Maybe he was nervous. Maybe he didn’t even know that most of us had no computing background. Too bad, maybe I should inform him before to avoid using highly technical terms. I decided to leave the session earlier since I couldn’t hold my tounge that always tried to take over his session. Hehehe truly I am a choleric.

Yesterday, when I was playing badminton, Wiembardi, a former co-worker sent me a message. He said that he wanted to pay me a visit. He already told me so many months before but he couldn’t make it. Well yesterday he did make it. We talked much about everything. Looked like that he is successful. I’m glad to hear it definitely. He even called a pizza hut delivery and it made me even happier. Actually I was the one who called but he paid it tehehe. A large pan of Meatlover, yummy…
He stayed at my place that night and went home in the morning. Hey what on earth are you thinking? We are guys, not gays so don’t you dare to even try to think about it.
Back to School
I promised to help a friend, H, do her final college project. Hani is not really my friend, but a friend of my friend, V hehehe. I promised to V so I’d better be there. The project is to create a Web-based information system in the Chinese language. I have created an online Chinese newspaper site when I was at the college so it didn’t give me any problem, fortunately. After doing some quick works for her, accidentally I saw that she got a good book related to the project. I asked her if she’d read the book. Not yet, she told me. What the !!! Was she serious? Okay, that was the first time I met her so I politely suggested her to read the book because everything she would ever need was already written in the damn book. Gosh, I really hate the kind of lazy people who always ask for help before even trying to do the damn things by themselves.
Halle Berry Is Catwoman
On Friday, or Thursday, can’t really remember, I asked if anybody in the office wanted to watch The Village, a thriller movie. Carla told me that she would so we made an appointment to watch it together. A few hours before the movie I sent her a message to remind her just in case that the clumsy girl forgot about it. Damn I was right. She just got up and couldn’t be there. Big deal, I definitely didn’t want to change the plan so I went with Wiembardi and Yosep.
Things don’t always happen like you want. It was proved today when I purchased the tickets for the movie. Guess what! The Village was not today’s show. Big deal, there were other movies anyway. Let’s see. Spartan, The Bourne Supremacy, Catwoman, a racing movie and an Indonesian movie, can’t remember the titles. I’d like to see The Bourne Supremacy but I couldn’t remember if I had seen the prequel, The Bourne Identity and neither my friends. So we agreed on Catwoman. Definitely not a great story if you asked me. I didn’t expect it anyway. Actings were adequate. But the special effects and the Catwoman’s moves were awesome. Cool soundtracks too. Halle Berry was hot and sexy and so was Sharon Stone, sure aging showed the difference. It was entertaining enough.
Girls’ Fight
On the way home I met little Shierly on the parking lot. She was with a boy that I didn’t know. No comment. I called a friend by the time I came home. She sent me a message earlier while I was watching Halle Berry in action and I told her that I would call her later.
The story we talked may be offensive to some persons (really I don’t mean it) so I’d rather not put real names here. Ann (not the real name) and me made a plan to do something (again I can’t tell specifically) together and I blogged it here.
One day Beth (not the real name) read my blog and complained to Ann why she wasn’t informed. Ann was so upset she asked me if I told anything to Beth about the plan. I told Ann that I didn’t tell Beth directly but I knew that she had read my blog. Beth did ask my confirmation about Ann’s participation. I told her the truth, like always.
At the moment I didn’t even think that it’s gonna be a problem since I knew that they were close friends. Okay that was only my assumption. Well at least they had been in the same college, the same major, and the same company for a considerable long time so I assumed they were close friends. The problem is Ann told me on the phone that they weren’t, anymore. Ann told me that she didn’t want to be associated to Beth all the time. She wanted to do something on her own, not always with Beth. Oh my, that was a surprise. Ann even thought that I told the things to Beth because I was close to Beth. Heck, why on earth did she ever think about that. I treated them the same as my other friends. In fact, I were closer to Ann than Beth, considering that I met and talked to Ann more than Beth. I told her so but she told me that she expected otherwise. For goodness sake, did she get me wrong?
I didn’t want to continue the thing anymore, it wasn’t even my business like Ann told me before, so I just told her that I was sorry and ended the conversation. Gosh, for the second time my blogs caused troubles to others who read. Well, should it cause one more problem, I may consider to quit blogging :-<. Arrgghh…
What’s Wrong With the Search Engines?
August 17th, 2004. Published under Games, Techie Stuffs. No Comments.
Today I checked this site access log. Great, the Google bot finally showed up in the list. Then I performed a search for this site on Google. Darn, still no results. Maybe Google had not indexed my site yet. At least Yahoo and Altavista already did. Well I’ll check to make sure. What the!!! My site disappeared from their listing. How could that happen? Arrrggghhh… I didn’t do anything stupid to this site lately but why the heck did the search engines not list my site? Bah, I couldn’t find any clue :(.
This site gets slower, it must be because I write blogs almost everyday. My blogs are all shown at the homepage so it will take a while to load the whole page. Do search engines hate this? Well I hate this, maybe they do too. Now I display only the last seven blogs at the homepage. It should be a lot of faster now to load the page. The older blogs can still be reached from the Archieved blogs section, so it won’t be a matter. I hope the search engines will like this new design.
There was no badminton practice today as the gym was closed temporarily. We are celebrating the Indonesian independance day today so most activities are suspended. It should be a holiday too but my office moved it to yesterday so I got to work today. No badminton meant more time to play RO :D. My magician was up for 6 levels today from 26 to 32. Not bad. I did the first few levels solo. Upon reaching level 30, however, things started to move very slowly, so I tried to make a small group to help me level faster.
My first group-mate today was an archer. He was at some levels below me but it was really not a big deal. I only needed someone to hold back the monsters for a second while my magician was casting his deadly spells. Although the magicians’ spells are so powerful, they need time to cast. If the magician is hit during the casting, the spell will be cancelled. That’s why I needed somebody to cover me. Later the archer introduced me to his friend, a thief (not a real thief of course, it is a profession in RO like archer or magician). We teamed up together and kicked the monsters’ asses.
Everything was great until an acolyte offered her service. My teammates gladly welcomed her as she could heal their wounds. I personally had no need for acolytes since magicians are seldom to get hit. Unfortunately, the acolyte had a bad intention. She tried to break our team apart. She only healed the thief’s wound. She even tried to seduce the thief to leave the party and started to go duet. Her sheme succeeded as the thief followed her will. This made the archer really upset and he started to bother them by kill-stealing the monsters they were engaging. The thief didn’t like the action and they started to insult each other. It wouldn’t do any good to me so I decided to leave the broken group and started soloing.
Some times later the archer asked me to rejoin because the acolyte had left. It looked like the archer and the thief had been in peace once again. Hahaha, I know it’s only a game, but it’s really funny when the emotions are involved.
